Bold and flavorful pizza combining spicy hot sausage, tangy feta cheese, and sweet honey drizzle. High protein recipe ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz hot sausage (Italian or your choice), cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra spice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Fresh arugula or spinach (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the hot sausage, breaking it apart, for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  4. Brush the dough with olive oil and pre-bake it in the oven for 5 minutes, until it begins to firm up but isn’t fully cooked.
  5. Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the pre-baked crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  6. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the pizza, followed by the crumbled feta cheese. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning if using.
  7. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  8. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Drizzle the honey evenly over the top. If desired, top with fresh arugula or spinach. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Always add honey AFTER baking to preserve sweetness and avoid burning. Cook sausage completely before adding to pizza for proper texture.
  • Use a pizza stone for restaurant-quality crispy crust. Don’t overload with toppings to prevent soggy base.
