Comforting one-dish meal with smoky kielbasa, cheese pierogies, and creamy sauce baked until bubbly. Easy dinner ready in 50 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 oz) package frozen potato and cheese pierogies
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (14 oz) kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened and golden brown.
  3. Add sliced kielbasa to skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes until lightly browned. Remove from heat.
  4. In large bowl, whisk together sour cream, cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika until smooth.
  5. Place frozen pierogies in prepared baking dish. Pour cream sauce over them and gently toss to coat.
  6. Add cooked onions and kielbasa on top and mix slightly to distribute.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover dish with foil.
  8. Bake covered for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Browning kielbasa before baking enhances texture and flavor. Make sure pierogies aren’t overcrowded to prevent sogginess.
  • Can be assembled a day in advance and refrigerated. Add 10 minutes to covered baking time if starting cold.
  • For crispy cheese top, broil for 2-3 minutes at end. Freezes well in individual portions for up to 2 months.
