Savory, cheesy bagels with a hint of spice from green chiles. Perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 pkg active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup diced green chile
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in mixer bowl. Let sit 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, green chile, and salt. Mix with dough hook until a dough forms. Knead 5 minutes.
  3. Cover bowl with towel and let dough rise for 1 hour.
  4. Divide dough into 8 balls. Place on greased sheet. Rest 15 minutes. Boil water.
  5. Form bagel holes. Rest another 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 415°F.
  6. Boil bagels 2 minutes per side. Drain and return to sheet.
  7. Top with extra chile and cheese. Bake 25 minutes until cheese browns.

Notes

  • Use frozen or fresh green chiles for best flavor.
  • Store in airtight container for up to 3 days.
