Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. In skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook 6-8 minutes, breaking apart, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In large bowl, combine beef, cooked rice, French onion soup, and sour cream until well mixed.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Spread mixture evenly in dish.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over top.
  7. Bake uncovered 25-30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Day-old rice works best for better texture.
  • Use 85/15 ground beef for balanced flavor without excess grease.
  • Can substitute mozzarella with Gruyère for authentic French onion flavor.
