Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15 or 90/10 recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 cups chopped romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup dill pickle chips, chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, paprika, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  3. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully browned with no pink remaining.
  4. Carefully drain off the excess fat from the skillet. Do not skip this step.
  5. Return the skillet to medium heat. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 to 2 more minutes until the spices are fragrant and evenly coat the meat.
  6. Divide the chopped lettuce evenly between two serving bowls.
  7. Spoon the hot seasoned beef over the lettuce in each burger bowl.
  8. Top each bowl with cherry tomatoes, chopped pickles, sliced red onion, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Drizzle the special sauce generously over each burger bowl and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use 85/15 ground beef for the best flavor and texture. Drain fat thoroughly after cooking to prevent a greasy or soggy bowl.
  • Always assemble the burger bowl fresh right before eating so the lettuce stays crisp under the warm beef.
  • Store components separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The cooked ground beef can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Make a double batch of the special sauce. It keeps in the fridge for up to one week and works great as a dip or salad dressing.
