These delightful Cookie Puff Pastries combine the buttery, flaky texture of puff pastry with the sweet, comforting taste of chocolate chip cookies. A unique dessert that’s surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed but still cold
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chip cookie dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar for sprinkling
  • Optional: chocolate drizzle or powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth any creases.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into 6 equal rectangles using a knife or pizza cutter.
  4. Place about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough in the center of each rectangle.
  5. Fold the pastry over the cookie dough, pressing the edges firmly with the tines of a fork to create a tight seal.
  6. Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and puffed. The pastry should feel light and hollow when tapped.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Optional: drizzle with melted chocolate or dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Keep the puff pastry cold until ready to use for best flakiness.
  • Don’t overfill the pastries or they may burst open while baking.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of sea salt on top before baking.
  • Try different cookie dough flavors like sugar cookie or peanut butter.
