Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (10 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: pickles, additional cheese, crumbled bacon

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef with diced onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in beef broth, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard powder. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package directions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until pasta is tender.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite burger toppings like pickles, extra cheese, or crumbled bacon.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess fat
  • Don’t overcook the pasta as it will continue to soften in the hot soup
  • For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce or some diced pickles to the soup
