Fast and easy dinner with sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, baked until perfectly juicy and caramelized. Ready in about 50 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 68 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil (or oil of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce (low-sugar store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a casserole dish with a bit of oil.
  2. Place the chicken breasts into a large Ziploc bag. Add 1 tablespoon oil, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon white pepper, and 1 teaspoon salt. Shake well until fully coated with oil and spices. You can marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. Remove chicken from the Ziploc bag and place into the prepared dish. Brush the seasoned chicken breasts with half of the BBQ sauce.
  4. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
  5. Flip the chicken breasts onto the other side, brush again with BBQ sauce, and continue to bake until cooked through, about another 20-30 minutes. The sauce should look sticky and slightly darkened around the edges.
  6. Use a food thermometer to check for doneness. The internal temperature of the thickest part should reach 165°F. If it hasn’t reached 165°F, continue baking and check every 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 3-5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Slice and serve warm with the remaining BBQ sauce.

Notes

  • Ovens vary, and chicken breast size affects bake time. Expect 40-50 minutes total.
  • Don’t overcook or chicken will be dry. Use a food thermometer to check for 165°F internal temperature.
  • Can marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate overnight to deepen flavor.
  • Consider adding broccoli florets or green beans in the last 20 minutes of bake time for a complete meal.
